Foundation Leveling

Foundation Leveling: A Crucial Structural Solution

A lot of times when people hear foundation leveling being a procedure suggested to them they tend to go into a bit of a panic mode. Leveling is a simple procedure to explain in many ways. At the end of the day the idea is to literally lift the part of the home that’s sinking down into the soil. When people hear that it’s easy to assume that the situation with your foundation is at a breaking point. What sometimes people may not realize is that homes don’t necessarily start sinking right down the middle. With uneven terrain you may run into some issues that could require a leveling procedure. All of this without your problem being as severe as it may sound.

Inspection Is Always The First Step

This is something that we can say about virtually all of the services that we provide. We bring it up here though because it is something that can help you spot foundation repair companies that are just trying to scam you. If you’re given a budget just based on a simple eye test from the outside of the home you should think twice about hiring that company. Sure, there are situations where just from looking at the place you’ll get the sense leveling is going to be the way to go. Giving a full budget just based on that is absurd.

Can Live In The Home While It’s Being Leveled?

Perhaps the question that we get the most from people who book our services. This applies to leveling, even waterproofing and crawlspace repairs. People want to know if they can stay in their house while we’re working. When it comes to leveling it depends on the scope of the project that we’re going to be undertaking. Most times though you should be able to stay within the home. Maybe with a part of the house blocked off to prevent further issues.

The Procedure Shouldn’t Take Too Long

Even if you ultimately do have to vacate the house for safety reasons as we go through the leveling process it’s something that shouldn’t take more than 2 or 3 days. That should give us enough time to get the job done. Plus, what we’ll want to do is go ahead and run some tests on the property to make sure that what we did is going to be a sustainable solution. Overall though don’t expect to be away from home too long even in the most severe of cases.

Why Homeowners Should Not Be Afraid of Leveling Procedure

This is something that we’ve been hinting on this whole time. There are situations where the foundation is not at a breaking point so to speak. Even then though leveling could be the best way forward. You want to be proactive with the procedure so that your foundation does not reach that breaking point. With any foundation issue though the first thing that we typically recommend is not to panic. We’ll find a solution that fits your particular situation.
